Moving On In Life

Are you ever in a mood for a light and catchy song? Perhaps it has been a stressful day with many obstacles that you have needed to overcome. Sometimes you don’t need any quotes about moving on in life in a song, all you want to hear is that upbeat tune that can put the spring back into your step. The lyrics of a song are not as important as the beat when you are feeling down.

Music can be fun on a stressful day. It can bring people together and it appeals to the physical senses. So, instead of being sad you can be upbeat and dancing around. Now, if the song has famous music quotes that are catchy and fun that can be all the better. And if it says something meaningful at the same time, then that can be a huge plus.

This example of some song lyrics by Gus Kahn, sung by Eddie Cantor in 1928

He’s washing dishes and baby clothes
He’s so ambitious, he even sews
But don’t forget, folks, that’s what you get, folks
For makin’ whoopee

I don’t think you could keep a straight face while listening to this song. So next time you have a tough day think of these words, take a walk and life will look brighter.

How Simple Is This?

Some success lessons are so simple that you can easily neglect them and fail to realize the power they hold.

Here is one the simplest from W. Clement Stone, the father of Positive Mental Attitude: “If there is something to gain and nothing to lose by asking, by all means ask!”

Simple, yet how easy it might be to fail to:

  • Ask for more money.
  • Ask for a referral.
  • Ask for help.
  • Ask for advice.
  • Ask for the order.

Be on the lookout for “asking opportunities.” They are all around.

If you give value in return, that’s great. However, many will say “Yes!” to the above points just because you asked.

This is as good a deal as it gets.

So don’t be shy, retiring, or casual about asking. Jim Rohn said “Don’t take the casual approach to life. Casualness leads to casualties.”

And it leads to lost opportunity. And all you had to do was ask.
